Here is an extremely fine & rare steel helmet from ww2. It is a german m35 pattern, though the standard of manufacture does not seem quite as high as usual german helmets, (has a slightly more 'crude' feel to it) for example, the 'rolled' edge is not as neat & precise as one normally sees, (it seems folded & flat rather than rolled). There is also an unusual stamping on the inside edge, (please see pics). The liner band material (aluminium? ) seems quite soft & bendy.
There is a size stamping 68 na / 60. The shell has quite a bit of original field-grey paint remaining & has some rust surface 'patina' also, again, please see pics. The leather camouflage strap is original to the helmet & is in good condition though quite dry (would not want to try & remove).
The three liner band rivets are all original to helmet & have not been messed with (the paint on one is in good condition & perhaps gives it the appearance of being a replacement. It si not). The liner leather has worn with age & one finger is missing & one still juts attached. There is no chin-strap. A great peice of history.
Insured postage to the u. S. A & canada would be-. U. S $27.00 (gb £18.20).
